Heading Out on an ATV Adventure? Here’s How to Make Things Fun for the Whole Family
January 19, 2018Prevent Golf Cart Theft With These 5 Tips
February 8, 2018Odds are good that you wash your family’s vehicles regularly. It’s not surprising to see lines at the car wash that back right up into the main road!
People take pride in how shiny and eye catching their freshly cleaned cars are, and we love to see that our customers take the same pride in their golf carts!
While we don’t exactly recommend taking your E-Z-Go golf cart through an automatic car wash, there are several things you can do to keep your cart looking the way it did the day you drove it off the lot.
Here are some pointers when it comes to keeping your golf cart nice and clean!
Proper set up
Before you begin the task of washing your golf cart, it is good practice to make sure that your cart is parked in a shaded location. The direct heat and sunlight beating down on the soap you’ll be using can cause it to dry too quickly and soap spots will form on the finish of your cart.
You’ll also want to make sure you’re in a place where the soapy chemical runoff won’t enter a storm drain and contribute to polluting pond and lake water.
Make sure you have the right tools
By having all the tools and equipment you need at the ready, you’ll save yourself a lot of time from having to run back and forth to the garage looking for what you need.
Take a second to think about what tools you’ll want to use, and make sure they’re ready beforehand. Things like a hose, bucket, soap, sponges, and drying towels should all be on your list.
Clean out the interior
Prior to rinsing off your golf cart with a hose, you should make sure that the interior of your cart is free of equipment or anything that could be ruined by the water. Things like floor mats, GPS, golf score cards, etc.
Wash the body of your cart
Start by filling up one bucket with a water and soap mixture, followed by a second bucket with only water. Do an initial spray down of your golf cart with a hose to make sure any lose dirt is removed from the exterior of your cart. Next, take a soft sponge or cleaning mitt dipped in the soapy water and scrub your cart clean. It’s important that the sponge and or mitt are soft because you don’t want to accidentally grind any dirt that may have survived the initial rinse into the cart’s finish.
Finally, rinse your cart and dry it off with soft towels such as microfiber. Don’t let it drip dry or you could run into the issue of having water streak stains on your cart’s finish.
Be extra careful when washing your windshield
Your golf cart’s windshield is probably made out of either polycarbonate or acrylic. Unfortunately, both of these materials are prone to scratches so you’ll want to take extra caution when washing your windshield.
Avoid using glass cleaners or paper towels as these increase the chances of scratching or scuffing the windshield. Using mild soapy water and a microfiber cloth will minimize the risk of scratching.
Following these 5 steps will keep your golf cart in prime condition. Keeping your cart clean not only makes it look great, it also can extend the life of your cart.
