Looking to Go Out to Celebrate? Here Are Three Can’t-Miss New Year’s Eve Parties in South Carolina!
When you like to bring in the New Year surrounded by a crowd of people all counting down alongside you, it’s important to find the best parties without having to worry. If you’re in the Upstate for NYE, the Southern Gala at the Hilton will be the place to be! Tickets include dancing, food, drinks, and more — as well as a focus on charity. If you’ll be in Columbia for the holiday, the countdown to Columbia’s Famously Hot New Year has already begun! Free admission, live music, lots of local vendors, and the largest fireworks display in the two Carolinas! On the other hand, if you’re keeping close to the beach, Charleston Wonderland is a formal New Year’s Eve party where just about every aspect is dressed to impress. In South Carolina, we know how to do holiday parties right!
Heading to a Small Local Party With Friends? Offer to Bring This Simple Appetizer.
If you’re hoping to keep things pretty small and heading to a local party at a friend or loved one’s house, offer to help out however you can! The host or hostess might appreciate some last-minute prepwork assistance. Ask if you can help to set the table for dinner, hang up streamers or banners, or make a grocery store run for those final few party essentials. Is the party a potluck? Here’s a quick way to pull together a popular appetizer:
Brie and Crackers With Cranberry Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 package fresh cranberries, rinsed thoroughly
- Zest and juice of 1 orange (should be about 1/4 cup or more)
- Splash vanilla
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large or 2 small wheels of brie
- 2 – 3 packages water crackers, for serving
Add together water and fresh orange juice — the amount should equal to 1 cup of liquid. Mix in small saucepan with sugar and a splash of vanilla. Bring to a boil. Add in fresh cranberries, return to boil, then simmer for 10 minutes or until cranberries have popped. Remove from heat and chill before serving. This cranberry sauce is best if made the day before. When you arrive at the party, slice the brie into small pieces and place one piece on a water cracker. Top with a small spoonful of cranberry sauce. For a garnish, you might add a small sprig of rosemary.
Show up with this appetizer and a bottle of champagne, and you’ll be party-ready with only minutes of preparation!
Sticking Close to Home for New Year’s Eve?
Sometimes, curling up at home with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate sounds like the perfect plan for New Year’s Eve. Maybe you’ve got young ones at home who still need to head to bed early, or you just prefer to keep things quiet and cozy.
Our suggestion for a great NYE? Start your own traditions. Maybe make it a yearly event — order in some of your favorite delivery food, have everyone share a resolution for the new year over dinner, and then settle in to watch a favorite movie or TV show while you wait for the clock to strike midnight. Do you have little ones at home? Tell them to grab all the blankets and pillows they can find and turn the living room into one big slumber party for the whole family!
